Oregon police arrested a zoo owner for drug charges after A police descent in the establishment earlier this month This found generalized animal drugs and abuse.
The Sheriff’s Bureau of Coos said that Brian Tenney, the owner of West coast Game Park Safari was arrested Tuesday for possession of methamphetamine, manufacturing and attempted distribution. He was then released while the district prosecutor’s office awaited more information, said a staff member of Coos County prison when he was reached by the Associated Press.
West Coast Game Park Safari has been examined in recent weeks after a raid in mid-March that has led to drug attacks. The authorities have served several search mandates at the zoo, which contains more than 450 animals and is located near the small town of Bandon to the south Oregon side. The action follows an investigation into the establishment, including investigations on animal welfare, said police from the state of Oregon.
The police said they found 80 g of methamphetamine, 44 firearms, about 8 g of cocaine and 1.6 million dollars in cash, cashier checks, obligations and certificates. Inspectors also raised concerns about the treatment of animals, including malnutric lions and leopards which had “hips, ribs and green columns displayed under the skin”.
Veterinarians and Oregon Society Oregon and Pisces and Fauna and Agriculture State departments have responded to the scene to assess health, food quality, water supply, sanitation and animal speakers, authorities said.
Police said 310 animals had been relocated to animal sanctuaries or rescue facilities. After being assessed by veterinarians, a camel, a chicken and a kinkajou were euthanized.
The investigation is underway.
