According to Times, Russell Brand can face accusations of rape and sexual assault in the United Kingdom, but he also faces criminal charges in the United States.
The British Broadsheet reports that Warner Bros. Discover proposed to hand over to releases from the actor of the romantic drama “Arthur”, published in 2011, as evidence linked to an allegation of sexual assault on the set.
Brand and Warner Bros. were continued in 2023 by a supplement on the film identified as Jane Doe, who accused the actor of exposing themselves to actors before assaulting her in a culinary.
Brand and Warner Bros. both denied allegations, but Warner Bros. Discovery would have now proposed to disclose invisible images of “Arthur”, his lawyer Patrick Lamparello saying to a Supreme New York court last week that the company had “a few hours of video sequences … Four or five hours, which could be more, towards eight”, according to The Times. The Times also said that during New York’s hearing in New York, Brand lawyers sought to delay the case, saying that there would be a “overlap” with the criminal case in the United Kingdom, the request was rejected by judge Shlomo Hagler.
Brand’s lawyer Mark Cuccaro, told the Supreme Court that Brand had “a reasonable belief that criminal proceedings are possible in the United States on the basis of allegations that have been encouraged to criminal sexual misconduct in the United States, which was wrongly accused by this civil plaintiff and several others through the media.”
London metropolitan police last week confirmed that the brand had been accused of rape, indecent assault, oral rape and two chiefs of sexual assault, and was to appear in court in May. 2. The brand denies allegations.
