The other electric vehicle: E-bikes are gaining traction for Americans shunning gas-powered cars

Crystal and Brianne Williams, a married couple who live just outside of Denver, recently made a decision that would have seemed drastic just a few years ago.

The couple, 33 and 29, ditched their car for a pair of e-bikes. Brianne rides hers every weekday, 18 miles round trip, to study at her university. Crystal, a less experienced rider, uses hers a few times a week to commute to work in downtown Denver, as well as for errands and outings. Their custom models, assembled by a local specialist e-bike manufacturer, are now their only means of personal transportation.
