A dolce and gabbana in sapphire blue velvet were the perfect dress for the occasion. As an ambassador of Lancôme, Rossellini’s makeup was just as magnificent. “The focal point of the look was floating eyelashes and a lip of colors of bays,” explains his makeup artist Matilawizada. After having perfected his complexion with Lancôme complexion idol Ultra Wear Foundation, he added a transparent washing of deep blue on his lids. Below, Rossellini takes us further behind the scenes of his large night for the 2025 Oscars.
His pre-oscars ritual:
The day before the Oscar ceremony, I gathered with my family and some friends, which was wonderful because the day before, you are very nervous. What I did that day was having a little dinner with about 12 of my friends and my nearest family here in Los Angeles. My daughter asked, “How do you feel?” What would you like to do? I said, “Well, I’m so nervous. I feel like a rabbit who wants to hide in a hole. And here, dinner with you is the hole of the rabbit family in my den. This is how I relaxed!

The realities of the red carpet:
Red carpets are the most intimidating part of prices for me because you are not judged on the film or your skills as an actor, but on your appearance, your elegance and how you introduce yourself. For us, actors, who like to play other people – and I am not shy when I play other people, I can do everything – it’s different when I have to introduce myself. Of course, I am attacked by all the insecurities that everyone has. Am I too short? Should I be thinner? Should I be younger? Should I have blue eyes? These are all insecurity that I think everyone feels.
THE Blue velvet Symbolism:
For this red carpet, I decided to pay tribute to David Lynch. David was my partner for many years, and we have worked together on several films, especially Blue velvetWhich, I believe, is one of my most successful films. Dolce & Gabbana made a beautiful dress for me, in blue velvet. I wore Bulgari jewelry, but my earrings came from my mother. They were Bulgari earrings that my father gave him in 1954, at the age of two. My mother is Ingrid Bergman, and she won them when she won the Academy Prize, so I also worn them – although I did not win.

Glam details ::
When I played Blue velvetI had a specific look – a very blue eyeshadow and very red lips. I was a nightclub singer in the film, and she was hiding behind her makeup because she was a mistreated woman, hiding her reality. I wanted makeup to look like a doll, solid and almost like a mask. For this red carpet, with Lancôme, we made a Blue velvet Tribute, but with much more moderate tones. There was a little blue eyeliner and eyeshadow, but not as strong as in Blue velvet. For my lips, I used the drama of Red Drama of Lancôme in lipstick Mademoiselle IsabellaWhich is my absolute favorite.
