Buenos Aires (AP) – Strong rains that have flooded a city on the east coast of Argentina in recent days have killed at least 15 people, officials announced on Sunday.
The rescue teams sought dozens of other missing people, including two girls and two adults. Authorities said they were swept away by flood waters launched by rains that started trampling on the city of Bahía Blanca on Friday.
The crews evacuated more than 1,450 people from the city south of the capital of Buenos Aires. Those who are evacuated include patients from a local hospital.
Some 12 inches (300 millimeters) of rain have fallen to Bahía Blanca in recent days, when the historic average average is around 5 inches (129 millimeters).
No rain has been planned for the next 72 hours.
