The LNR confirmed that Friday evening’s match between the Dolphins and the South Sydney Rabbitohs was transferred to the Commbank stadium in South New Wales with concerns that were issued by the arrival of the Tropical Cyclone Alfred on Thursday.
The match was to be played at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, but with the Queensland Capital preparing for bursts of 120 km / h and 40 mm of rain during the night on Thursday, the league bosses chose to change the light for security reasons.
This means that the Rabbitoh will now play their NRL opening match from the 2025 at home, the two teams being ready to play the leg back from the match at the Tour 17 Suncorp Stadium.
“The LNR has made the decision today to allow the implementation of the appropriate changes and to recognize and thank the Dolphins and the Rabbitohs for their approach and their cooperation,” the LNR in a statement on Tuesday.
“The LNR said that the safety of players, fans and the community was the highest priority when you consider the change of place.
Ticket holders in the match at the Suncorp Stadium are informed that dolphins will be in contact as soon as possible with more information on the options. If you need additional information, contact info@dolphinsnrl.com.au. ‘
This occurs when the AFL has chosen today to cancel the recovery of the curtains of the Brisbane Lions 2025 season against Geelong at Gabba.
