A serious accident occurred Wednesday during the launch of a new North Korean warship while leader Kim Jong one would attend the event, with him calling him a “criminal act” which could not be tolerated, the KCNA state media reported.
Kim, who witnessed the failure of the launch of the 5,000 -ton destroyer, exposed the accident as a “neglect” which tarnished the dignity of the country, and ordered that the ship was restored before a key meeting of the ruling party in June, KCNA said on Thursday.
The report did not mention if there were victims.
Criminal negligence blamed for an accident in North Korean warships
KCNA said that the East Port incident of Chongjin had been caused by a loss of balance during the launch of the ship and that he said that sections from the bottom of the warship were crushed, but that it did not give more details on the damage suffered.
“Kim Jong One made a severe evaluation saying that it was a serious accident and a criminal act caused by absolute negligence, irresponsibility and non -scientific empiricism which is out of the limits of the possibility and could not be tolerated,” KCNA reported.
Kim said that the accident “brought dignity and self -compliance with our state to collapse”, the addition of an immediate restoration of the destructive was “not only a practical question but a political question directly linked to the authority of the State”.
The rare public disclosure of an accident follows a report on the launch of another destructive of a similar size in April to which Kim attended the West Coast of Nampho’s West Coast.
North Korea has already experienced accidents such as the failures of spatial launch vehicles and civil disasters that were subsequently used to promote the role of management and the party of workers in power in correcting problems.
The 5,000 -ton destroyers launched by North Korea this year are the largest warships in the country to date.
In a report last week on preparations for the launch of the accident ship, the 38 North, based in the United States, said that it seemed to be launched by the side of the Quay, a method not observed before in North Korea.
“The use of this launching method could be a necessity, because the platform where the ship is built has no inclination,” said report 38 North.
The commercial satellite imagery of the shipyard the day before the launch showed the destroyer positioned on the platform with support ships alongside its side.
