The next-generation Acura EV will bring the RSX nameplate back to the performance brand’s lineup; Start of road tests of prototypes

Acura announced today that the brand’s next-generation premium performance electric vehicle will carry the “RSX” nameplate. Based on the Acura Performance EV concept, the all-new Acura RSX will be the first model built on the new EV platform developed by Honda and will mark the launch of the new exclusive ASIMO OS operating system presented by Honda at CES 2025. Real-world development testing for the all-electric RSX begins this week, with prototype models rolling out in unique camouflage packaging designed by Acura’s global design team. The camouflage created by Acura’s design team highlights the sleek coupe-like silhouette with sophisticated patterns that mimic light emerging through the camouflage to convey calm, strength and inner power.

The Honda EV Hub is less than a year away from producing electric vehicles in Ohio, and significant retooling efforts are already underway, including the installation of the first of six high-pressure die-casting machines of 6,000 tonnes at the Anna Engine Plant for the mega-casting of the case for the Intelligent Power Unit (IPU), which houses the electric vehicle battery and is part of the vehicle platform. The IPU enclosures under development are much larger than anything Honda has diecast before, with megacasting representing a new capability for Honda on a global scale.
