The Lord of the Rings: Hunting in Gollumthe new LOTR Film which will present Andy Serkis as a star and director, will be presented in theater on December 17, 2027, Deadline Reports.
Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, who were all essential to the trilogy of the original film and The Hobbit trilogy, will produce the film, Deadline said. Walsh and Boyens will write the scenario. This team will also produce a second new LOTR film, but there was no director announced for this film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Hunting in Gollum was initially announced by Warner Bros. Discovery last year, with the CEO of WBD, David Zas, saying that he had a release date in 2026. (A press release at the time noted that the title is a working title.) The new film follows the years 2024 Rings Anime movie, Rohirrim’s war. And Amazon is currently working on a third season of his Rings series, Power rings.
