The new OPENAI image generator, fueled by its GPT-4O model, is now available for all users, said CEO SAM ALTMAN in an article on X. The functionality was so far available only for paid chatgpt users.
Although it is not clear how many image users on the free level can generate, Altman last week had mentioned a limit of three images per day.
The OPENAI Image Generation tool has taken off instantly after the launch, with Altman saying that the demand was so high, the GPUs of the company “founded”. The tool quickly gained notoriety for having been used to convert the images into style of the Japanese animation company Studio Ghibli, also raising concerns about copyright data and the training used by the company, given the similarity of style.
Some people also used it to generate false receipts, such as catering bills. An Openai spokesperson told Techcrunch that all these images have metadata indicating that Chatgpt had generated them and that the company “takes measures” if the images violate the directives of the company.
Meanwhile, Openai said that he has raised $ 40 billion in SoftBank to an assessment of $ 300 billion. The company also said that Chatgpt had reached 500 million weekly active users and 700 million monthly active users.
