The Netherlands begin an investigation into the massacre of the Mozambique – Politico gas plant

According to the Politico report, the Mozambican military unit brought together between 180 and 250 people in containers at the Gatehouse of the French company and kept them there for three months. Only 26 men survived the test; 97 of the victims were identified.

The revelations aroused criticism from the French and European legislators, and although the Mozambican subsidiary of the company declared that it had “not identified any information or proof which would corroborate allegations”, the French company delayed its gas project in the African country.

The launch of an independent survey by the Dutch team could also be considered as a serious signal concerning the validity of “without proof” claims.

The Dutch government provides export support to the Dutch company Van Oord to build a pipeline for the LNG project in Mozambique, but interrupted support while the project is pending.

The results of the independent survey will be presented in the Dutch House of Representatives before the Dutch government decides whether to extend support for the export of the project.

The Office of the Prosecutor General of Mozambican also launched an investigation on Tuesday, opening a criminal case on allegations of kidnapping, rape and murder against the members of the security services who kept the establishment of Totalengies.
