The navy’s counter-admiral Kevin Smith was dismissed as an executive director of the unmanned ship program and small ships “due to a loss of confidence on the basis of a complaint supported by a naval inspector general office in investigation,” service officials announced on Tuesday.
The complaint concerned a problem of misconduct, a source knowing the question said Task & Purpose. No other information was immediately available.

Smith was relieved Tuesday by Brett SEIDLE, assistant secretary of the Navy for research, development and acquisition, said the press release. He had managed the office since June 2023.
