‘The Million Dollar Bomber’: Fury as Boston Marathon bomber’s prison canteen account tops $4,000 (on top of his $26,000 trust fund) – as man 30-year-old languishes on death row at “Alcatraz of the Rockies”, costing taxpayer Mr.

A former warden at the prison where the Boston Marathon bomber lives has criticized the killer for saving more than $24,000 in prison, including donations from sick strangers.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 30, has been on death row at ADMAX Florence, Colorado, nicknamed “the Alcatraz of the Rockies,” since his conviction in 2015 for inciting the horrific event that caused widespread number of victims on April 15, 2013.

He has $4,000 in his account at the prison canteen, which can be used to purchase various items like food and clothing from the prison store, and a $26,000 fund made up of donations from his sisters, lawyers and foreigners.

Former Supermax executive Bob Hood called it “offensive” that Tsarnaev failed to pay the $101 million he owes victims while making considerable savings.

“He arrived destitute and he should remain destitute,” Hood told the Boston Herald. “It’s sick that he has followers… Why would he even have a dime?”

Hood added that the cost to taxpayers of keeping Tsarnaev in prison also easily eclipsed $1 million — not including his as-yet-undisclosed legal bill.

“He’s the million-dollar bomber,” Hood told the Herald.

Meanwhile, Tsarnaev’s lawyer is working to stop federal authorities in Boston from seizing his client’s $4,223.86 canteen account.

“He does not hoard or spend excessively,” attorney David Patton wrote in legal documents attached to the appeal.

The lawyer added that his killer client “continues to receive unsolicited deposits from people he has never met” but that he “did not have access” to the money.

Patton said Tsarnaev earned $25 a month working as a prison cleaner and used his canteen account to buy “commissary items such as allergy medication, sweat clothing needed for work maintenance outside, food and stamps.

He only pays $35 a month in restitution to victims, of whom he owes $101 million. Patton said he has paid about $2,600 so far.

Tsarnaev also received a $1,400 Covid-19 relief grant paid to all prisoners two years ago, but it was “placed under administrative control” by the Prison Board.

Last month, a federal appeals court ordered the judge who presided over Tsarnaev’s 2015 trial to investigate whether two jurors were biased and should not have served.

Tsarnaev’s lawyers said a Facebook friend told one juror to “be part of the jury” and send him “to jail where he will be taken care of,” while the second juror retweeted a message on Twitter calling the killer a “piece.” garbage.

U.S. Circuit Judge William Kayatta, writing for the majority, said that if the trial judge concluded that either juror should have been disqualified, Tsarnaev would be entitled to a new criminal trial to determine if he were to be sentenced to death.

“And even then, we emphasize once again that the only question in such proceedings will be whether Tsarnaev will be executed; regardless of the outcome, he will spend the rest of his life in prison,” Kayatta wrote.

Three people were killed: Martin Richard, 8 years old; Krystle Campbell, 29; and Lu Lingzi, 23 – and more than 260 runners were injured, including 17 people who lost limbs.

Three days later, on April 18, the FBI released images of the killer brothers, and that evening they shot and killed MIT police officer Sean Collier, 27, while he was searching for them.

They were arrested again by police in Watertown and engaged in another shootout, during which two officers were seriously injured and one of them, Dennis Simmonds, 28, died a year later.

Tamerlan was shot multiple times during the altercation and Dzhokhar ran him over as he fled in a stolen car. He died shortly afterwards.
