While the city of Venice has confirmed it, he is preparing to welcome the marriage of the founder of Amazon Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez this summer, the local mayor tried to reassure residents in the middle of the undergoing battle against surecuching.
In a statement on Saturday, the city of Venice said that the billionaire and the future wedding of his future wife would not cause disruption of residents or visitors and that the priority would be to ensure that the city – a tourist hotspot – “works as usual”.
The press release indicates that 200 guests should attend the Venetian ceremony, but he stressed that the city was used to managing major international events.
He also denied information according to which a large number of gondolas or an “excessive” number of water taxis had been reserved for the occasion.
“The many speculations and false news traveling on Jeff Bezos’ marriage is completely unfounded,” continued the declaration.
Luigi Brugnaro, mayor of Venice, added: “We work mutually and support the organizers, to ensure that the event will be absolutely respectful of the fragility and uniqueness of the city. For this reason, we will work together for the best result. The one who loves Venice will always be welcome.”

This is not the first time that the “floating city” has hosted a high -level wedding.
In 2014, George and Amal Clooney married at the exclusive hotel of Aman Canal Grande, which faces the emblematic channel.
But in recent years, the city – famous for its labyrinth of picturesque canals and superb architecture – has drawn growing attention for its attempts to push back on the Surechard.
With a population of around 50,000 inhabitants, the city of the island of Venice accommodates around 20 million visitors per year – and many of its residents in numerical inferiority are fed up.
Several measures have been introduced to try to tackle the problem, in particular by limiting groups of tourists to 25 people, prohibiting large cruise ships from entering the Venice lagoon and invoicing daily costs to 5 euros (around $ 5.40) to day excursions.
