Jack Daniel CEO, Brown-Forman CEO Lawson Whiting, said the Canadian provinces that withdrew from the store liquor was “worse than a price” and a “disproportionate response” on the samples imposed by the Trump administration.
Several Canadian provinces have removed liqueurs from stores in stores in reprisal measures against Donald Trump prices.
“I mean, it is worse than a price, because it literally removes your sales, (and) completely withdraw our products from the shelves,” said Whiting during a post-benefit call.
Canada Tuesday also imposed 25% prices on goods imported from the United States, including wine, spirits and beer.
Whiting, however, said that Canada represented only 1% of their total sales and that the company could resist the blow.
He added that the company would pay attention to what would happen in Mexico, which, according to its annual report, represented 7% of its 2024 sales.
The company’s shares increased by around 8% after the alcohol manufacturer reaffirmed his annual forecasts which represented the impact of prices.
While the merlan warned against “continuous uncertainty and the opposite winds in the external environment”, he said that he was confident of the business trajectory.
Brown-Forman has been in shock from a slowdown in demand so far this year, led by the United States, Canada and Europe, compensating for the advantages of stronger sales in emerging markets such as Mexico and Poland.
The company has undertaken cost reduction measures, in particular the reduction of workforce. Analysts said it was an answer to a more difficult environment for the company and in the wider industry.
