‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ Movie Adds Sigourney Weaver to Cast

Sigourney Weaver is in talks to return to space to play a key role in the next Star Wars movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu.

Jon Favreau is directing and producing the film alongside Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni. Production is expected to begin later this year ahead of a planned release date of May 22, 2026.

Plot details are also unknown as to who Weaver will play. Lucasfilm had no comment.

This will mark the first Star Wars film since 2019 Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which grossed $1 billion worldwide.

For Weaver, this is a new quest towards deep space after his success with the Extraterrestrial And Avatar franchise. It is replaced by UTA.
