The Manchester United striker has already played his final game for the club with the FA Cup side’s decision

As Manchester United’s campaign draws to a close after the FA Cup final, one player has already packed his bags.

Anthony Martial has been injured for most of the season and he did not travel with the team ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup final.

Martial has not played for United since December

With the Frenchman’s contract expiring at the end of June, talkSPORT understands Martial will leave the club on a free transfer.

This means the striker has already played his last match for United.

Martial’s final appearance for the Red Devils came on 9 December when he played center forward against Bournemouth in a 3–0 defeat, being taken off in the 56th minute.

Since then, the former Monaco ace has been ruled out due to illness and groin surgery, although he has simply not been in the team since March.

Erik ten Hag did not include him in his squad for the FA Cup final against Manchester City and Martial did not travel with the other players on their trip to London.

This is despite the Dutchman revealing the striker is available after having fitness issues in recent months.

In his press conference ahead of the Wembley showdown, Ten Hag spoke about his options and said: “Yes, Harry Maguire is not available.

“But for the rest, all the players mentioned are available.

“Tomorrow, last training and we will make the final decisions, but from my point of view it looks good (that Mason Mount, Victor Lindelof and Anthony Martial are available).”

Martial's last appearance came against Bournemouth in a 3-0 defeat.

Martial’s omission will see the player once touted as a prodigy languish at Old Trafford after scoring just twice this season, including once in the Premier League.

In total, Martial has played 209 times for the Red Devils, scoring 63 times and assisting a further 27 times after joining Monaco in 2015.

Gabby Agbonlahor was shocked that Erik Ten Hag forced Anthony Martial to train alone at Manchester United and revealed Roberto Di Matteo did the same to him at Aston Villa.

He signed for United at the age of 19 and stood out as one of the most exciting youngsters in the world, turning up with a brilliant goal against Liverpool when Louis van Gaal was in charge.

The striker finished his debut campaign with 17 goals in all competitions, but scored just four Premier League goals the following campaign under Jose Mourinho.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appeared to unleash his attacking quality when in 2019/20, Martial scored 23 times in all competitions, including 17 in the league.

But he has seemed to fade since that season, scoring just 12 over the next four years which also saw him loaned out to Sevilla.

It remains to be seen where Martial will move next, although a return to Monaco could be the most likely option.
