The authorities fatally killed a man in Reseda on Sunday evening after pretending to shoot a firearm in a helicopter from the Los Angeles police department.
The deadly shooting began with a call for the police around 6:25 p.m. about an assault with a deadly weapon in the 6400 block on Boulevard Reseda, according to the LAPD. Upon his arrival, the police said they saw a man meeting an apartment complex near the intersection of Reseda and the Victory boulevards.
A LAPD helicopter also replied to the scene and reported that the suspect was looking for his handgun. The first reports indicated that the helicopter was not struck.
Police then continued the suspect in the rear alley of the apartments complex, where a police shooting took place. The paramedical paramedics of the Los Angeles fire service responded to the incident and declared the man who died on the scene.
The Division of Investigations on the Forces of the Ministry investigates the shooting. The suspect’s handgun has been recovered and will be examined alongside video and physical evidence, the authorities said.
No officer or civilian was injured during the incident, and there are no suspected suspects, police said.
This is the 11th person who was struck by LAPD gunshots in 2025, according to the police archives.
