The man with “Long Gun” arrested after an altercation in downtown the anti-Trump protest of Lafayette

Lafayette, ind. -passers-by during an anti-Trump gathering in downtown Lafayette said that a man angry with traffic had jumped out of a truck, pulled on a Trump shirt and had recovered a firearm from his vehicle and threatened from demonstrators before being handcuffed and chased by Lafayette police.

Hundreds of people presented themselves today at the Palais de Justice du Comté de Tippecanoe as part of a national movement “Hands Off! Mass Mobilization” involving cities of the country today. The Lafayette event started at noon.

Police from the County of Lafayette and Tippecanoe on the scene and a spokesperson contacted later did not provide more information on the incident before 1 p.m.

But several demonstrators described the incident in which the man apparently got angry when the crowd crossed the street and not allowing him to turn to the intersection at Third Street. They said that after the man had jumped from his truck, he would have fought a man around the corner of Columbia and North 3rd streets. The man who left his truck seemed to be kicked by a protester. After that, he returned to his truck and seemed to reveal an assault rifle before heading to the demonstration.
