San Jose – A man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly dismissed a firearm AA in a carpooling vehicle on New Year’s Eve, hitting one of the three women who were passengers in the car, according to the San Jose police department.
Erik Enriquez, a 19 -year -old resident from San Jose, was arrested for suspicion of attempted murder, discharging a firearm in an occupied vehicle, vandalism and having an assault rifle, authorities announced in a press release on Wednesday.
Around 11:14 p.m. on December 31, the police responded to a report that Enriquez approached a carpooling vehicle that three victims had participated, the authorities said. Enriquez released a gun, which he pulled on the vehicle as it was starting to hunt.
A ball struck one of the passenger women, causing non -fatal injuries, added the police. She was transported to a local hospital by the carpooling driver.
Enriquez fled the premises before the police arrive. The incident occurred near Don Alfonso Way and Entrada Cedros.
The detectives of the SJPD assault unit identified Enriquez as the suspect, the authorities said. He had been arrested “shortly after the shooting” for a separate crime in San Jose, and had a firearm in his possession at the time of his arrest according to which the police were used in the New Year’s incident.
The police then obtained an arrest warrant against Enriquez and a search warrant for his residence, which, when he was executed on Tuesday, jointly with the SJPD covered response unit, led the officers to find an un serialized assault rifle. Enriquez was arrested in San Jose and reserved in the main prison of Santa Clara, the authorities announced.
