A 24 -year -old San Diego man was killed in an early morning accident on Interstate 8 in Lakeside on Wednesday, California Highway Patrol said.
The incident was reported just after 1:20 am on the highway in the west, west of old road 80, officials of the road patrol in a press release said.
A BMW sedan “lost control and chased the north shoulder,” said the CHP.
The vehicle overturned an embankment and crashed into a tree. The vehicle stopped on its roof, trapping the driver inside, then was committed with flames, said the CHP.
The driver was declared dead on the scene. His name has not been published pending the notification of the family.
The cause of the accident remains under study.
