A man attacked four girls with a cleaner in a Brooklyn house on Sunday morning before he was killed by the police, who rushed to the house after one of the injured children called 911, police said.
The four girls, aged 8, 11, 13 and 16 years old, have serious injuries and stab wounds, but should survive, said Jessica Tisch, police commissioner, at a press conference near the home of the Benshurst district of Brooklyn.
The man, Longqian Chen, 49, who, according to the police, is linked to the girls and was alone with them and a boy, was taken to a neighboring hospital in critical condition, said Commissioner Tisch.
She congratulated the 11 -year -old girl, who hid in a room to call 911, as well as the officers who launched a locked door to reach children and police communication technicians who were able to follow the phone that the girl had used to identify the address of the house.
These actions, the commissioner, said: “Absasmé the lives of young girls.”
“It could have ended very differently,” she added.
We did not know how Mr. Chen was linked to children and why he attacked them. Police had never received a domestic violence report at home, said John Chell, the head of department. But Commissioner Tisch said that family members Mr. Chen had a history of mental illness.
