The majority of Americans aren’t worried about the coronavirus

Most Americans have no personal fear of contracting coronavirus, survey finds The Economist/YouGov found.
The survey asked respondents: “Given both your risk of contracting it and the severity of the disease, how worried are you personally about experiencing COVID-19?”
Most, 59%, said they weren’t very worried, and of these, 27% said they were “not worried at all”. Twenty-eight percent said they were “somewhat” worried, but only 13% said they were “very” worried.
Democrats are more worried than Republicans and Independents, as 58% expressed concern, compared to 38% of Independents and 26% of Republicans who are at least somewhat worried. Most Republicans and Independents, 73% and 60%, respectively, are not very worried or not at all worried about contracting the virus.
The survey also found that 44% ‘never’ wear a mask on their face, followed by 25% who do so ‘sometimes’. Only 17% said they “always” do it and 14% said they wear one “most of the time”.
Additionally, 25% think the pandemic is “over already,” but 32% think it never will be. Notably, President Biden declared the pandemic “over” in September.
The investigation follows Dr Anthony Fauci who sounded the alarm this week, urging individuals to get tested ahead of Thanksgiving gatherings.
“So when we get together at a family reunion for Thanksgiving or Christmas or any other holiday as winter approaches, it makes sense that you would want to take a test that day before going in. in a place where you could be infected and spread it, or other people who could be there to protect themselves, ”he said, emphasizing that masking and strengthening vaccines were part of the protection spectrum of oneself.
