The main European indices close higher
The main European indices close higher for the second time. The gains were led by the Spanish ibex which increased by 1.3%.
A look at the final figures shows:
- German DAX, +0.45%
- CAC France, +0.55%
- FTSE 100 UK +0.44%
- The Spanish ibex was at 1.30%
- Italian FTSE MIB +0.74%
As London/European traders head for the exit, US stocks are also up:
- Dow industrial average up 261.43 points or 0.69% to 38,013
- S&P index up 24.45 points or 0.49% to 5,046.85
- NASDAQ index up 73 points or 0.46% to 15756.37
- Russell 2000 up +20.77 points or 1.07% to 1968.72
The gains come despite U.S. yields rising after the New York Fed’s announcement. Williams did not close the door on the possibility of a rate hike if necessary. That said, he said “rates are in the right place.”
Crude oil is falling. Gold is up $23.85 or 1.01% at $2,384.11.
Bitcoin is also up in trading at $63,701. The low price reached $60,830 today.
