Ah yes, seven entries and we finally arrive at the first numbered game in the series (Pipe Down, MK64). There was always something that made me laugh at what is called ‘Mario Kart 7’, did all the more hilarious by Mario Kart World not Be called “Mario Kart 9”. After nice names like super circuit and double dash !!, ‘7’ felt resolutely unshakable. Which is ironic because the game was anything but.

Of course, the local multiplayer attraction was missing from the versions of the domestic console, but I was able to drive a kart that could fly And Go underwater, which, I would say, is a fair compromise. I remember distinctly having driven around Cheep Cheep Lagoon for the first time and its aquatic appeal blowing my little spirit. I played with the 3D cursor raised the maximum, you see, and you derive around this algae looked like the future.
What else do you know was cool? Customizable karts. I did not particularly care about statistics at the time and I rather put to build the most horrible abomination ever engaged on the track. Not to see my masterpiece was one of the main reasons why I rarely used the first -person driving mode of the game – and the fact that I tried it at the back of the car once and it made me sick. – Jim Norman
- Off -competition tracks: DK Jungle, Rock Rock Mountain, Cheep Cheep Lagoon
- Funny fact: Despite the Nintendo Network servers that stopped in April 2024, it was not until the same year that the last Mario Kart 7 player finally collapsed from the last hall of the match. It’s completely around victory!
- What is Mario Kart World? The shift has had a winged price of the world, but these are the same fundamentals that we saw for the first time in MK7. Driving underwater is another obvious, although from what we have seen so far, the race at the top of the waves is the only MKW option. However, the flower of fire always seems strong after having made its series debut in the 3DS entrance.
There was an audible dropout when I told my colleagues that I had spent more time playing Mario Kart 8 on Wii U than 8 Deluxe. This has nothing to do with preference – Deluxe is clearly THE version to play now. But my life was quite different between 2014 and 2017.
Apart from a few RPGs of virtual console and Xenoblade X, Mario Kart 8 was one of the few games that I played on the Wii U, a console for which I do not have much love for otherwise. I was at university and barely in my twenties at that time; I also preferred to play things on the big screen, so I would have sort of jumped MK7.

The colorful courses and worlds of 8 were like revisiting my childhood, except that now we have anti-gravity and huge Courses that seem to stretch for miles and kilometers. Magnificent outdoor races and crowded streets were back on the menu, and I had this old Mario Kart Wii.
The greatest thing I remember was the downloadable content. Nintendo has been carving out in DLC for a few years at the time, but I was still a skeptical student who only wanted to spend money for things that I thought I loved. Then Mario Kart 8 suspended the carrot of the animal crossing. Oh my God.
Look, a free Mercedes-Benz was good (although a little weird), but Zelda, Animal Crossing and F-Zero Race to come to a Mario Kart game? It’s like Smash Bros. but Mario Kart. Oh, Baby Park is back? No, thank you – the Hyrule circuit awaits you.
I really like all the DLC lessons, but I admit that I was a little Disappointed by the animal crossing one. It’s a bit basic and although seasonal changes are magnificent, I would have liked a little more variety in obstacles per season per season. The great surprise was the F-Zero, a series in which I never really had. It took Mario Kart to make me want a new F-Zero game. Big Blue on 200cc? It’s pure magic. – Alana Colleaux
- Off -competition tracks: Toad Harbor, Sunshine Airport, Cloudtop Cruise, Big Blue (DLC)
- Funny fact: Firehopping, or frog, was a common technique used online to maintain longer boosts from a mini-boost. Nintendo deleted this in Deluxe, which means it was probably an involuntary problem.
- What is Mario Kart World? Hmmm … okay, well, since 8 deluxe is mainly MK8 but betterMaybe we will know this …

It is the best -selling game on the switch, although I wonder where it is in the most played ranking. Even if you were one of the faithful of Nintendo who had bought a Wii U and unlocked each cup, obtained the DLC, and played MK8 with absolute death, you had To buy 8 luxuries.
The appropriate battle mode and the ability to hold two elements were major advantages (although I always Lack the strategy that has just been able to switch between the double dash items), but it was really the convenience of having Mario Kart in its own right on the move with two pads that made MK8D essential for any switching owner. You just had to have it.

It was interesting to hear the developers discuss “kicks on the box” and use the pass of booster lessons as a stop. However, what a stop! 48 new tracks, with return lessons, some redesigned, some borrowed from the tour, a few completely new-with so many new courses, it was difficult to get upset with the Dud ODD, especially if you have access to all these elements via an extension submarine. And the places of the real world added a different flavor to chaos – they were generally not up there with the best courses, but I liked to see the vision of Nintendo in London and Madrid.
Add all the quirks before (I loved the Amiibo Mii outfits), plus a multitude of new ones (Labo controls, anyone?) And no wonder he took Nintendo eight years to find a suite. – Gavin Lane
- Off -competition tracks: Dunes with bone drying, Mount Wario, Yoshi’s Island (DLC)
- Funny fact: As of March 31, 2025, this sold 68.2 million copies and is the best -selling game in Switch – 59.74 million more copies than the original sold on Wii U, although MK8 is also that System bestseller.
- What is Mario Kart World? In some ways, it looks like the end of the road to the old -fashioned Mario Kart on the autonomous tracks – MK8D’s exhaustiveness has given Nintendo the impulse of pushing beyond the limits of the circuits in a larger world. You could even say a Mario Kart W— * The blue shell explodes *

And that updates us! … or is it? In fact, there are a few roads to travel before taking the highway in Mario Kart World. Join us next week for a Tour of Honor where we quickly examine the lateral games and rans of the Mario Kart series.
