The Lions made him official with their two new coordinators.
Detroit announced Thursday that John Morton was hired to serve as an attacking coordinator and Kelvin Sheppard was promoted to defensive coordinator.
Morton replaces Ben Johnson, who was hired as head coach of the Bears. Sheppard replaces Aaron Glenn, who left to become the jet coach.
Morton was the senior attacking assistant in Detroit in 2022 under the head coach Dan Campbell before going to Denver to be the club game coordinator for the last two seasons. Previously, he worked with Campbell in New Orleans in 2016 when Campbell was the team’s tight end coach and Morton was the recipient’s coach.
Sheppard, a third round choice in 2011, ended his player career with the Lions in 2018 and was hired as coach of the team’s seconds under Campbell in 2021. He was then coach of the seconds during the three Last seasons.
