Liechtenstein voted on Sunday for Brigitte Haas, a lawyer, to lead her government.
According to official results, his Patrie Union party won 38.3% of the votes, ahead of the party of progressive citizens, which ended in second place with 27.5%, according to official results. The largest party traditionally appoints the Prime Minister.
The conservative microstat is a constitutional hereditary monarchy, with a balance of power between the monarchy and its people, represented in Parliament.
Prince Hans-Adam II is the head of state, but his eldest son, Prince Alois, has exercised his functions since 2004 as a regent. He has the power of veto to the laws after a 2003 referendum which gave more power to the monarchy.
Some 16,171 votes were expressed, a participation rate of 76.3%.
