The legend of ski Lindsey vonn shared the new tragic of her dog, Lucy, who died on Sunday evening.
Earlier this week, Vonn shared that Lucy, his King Cavalier Charles Spaniel aged 9 – and his faithful travel companion – failed the kidneys. The skier, 40, admitted that the prognosis was not good before going to her home in Utah to be with Lucy.
Five days later, she shared the sad news of Lucy’s death with a long Instagram publication.
With a series of photos of Lucy and them together, Vonn wrote: “Today, my sweet and sweet Lucy left us. 9 years ago, she entered my life, and from the first moment until the very last, she brought so much light and love to me and to all those she met.
“We have traveled the world together, skié, hiking, explored, explored, descended from the waterfalls, in air balloons, at the Olympic Games,” she continued. “We have continued so many incredible adventures and have created so many memories that I am beyond the chance of having shared with it.
“We even had our own television show! There was nothing that Lucy couldn’t do! She was never afraid, never hesitates to try something new, she was always happy, liked great and unconditionally. There will never be enough words to describe how much I love her and my heart will never be the same without her. There will never be another Lucy.

“I know she is with my mother, Bear and our family in paradise,” continued Vonn. “I plan them all together, run, happy and more suffering, always guiding myself and watching me from above. At least I have to believe that or the pain would be unbearable.
“Lucy, you will always be my light. Until we saw each other … I love you my princess.
“Thank you to all the incredible veterinarians who have helped her over the years and especially in the past few days. You have all done everything possible to save it and I will be forever grateful to you.
“My big boy Leo is fortunately still in remission and goes strong at 12 years old. It’s back to the way it all started … Just me and Leo. Recognizing I still have it.
Several athletes, including the star of the WNBA Cameron Brink and the AS of Tennis Coco Gauff took the comments to express the Vonn console.
“I send you so much love,” wrote Brink with an emoji of heart. Meanwhile, Gauff wrote “I’m really sorry” with two hearts.
Vonn has marked the story when she finished her return season with a second place in a super -G race of the World Cup – but the legendary skier left Sun Valley with a heavy heart with Lucy’s state.
“I have to understand it … I need all the luck I can get,” said Vonn, who has two other dogs, Leo and Jade.

Lucy has long been a world traveler with Vonn, the ski star who recently returned
Vonn was looking forward to relaxing on the Bahamas beaches after an exhausting season. But Lucy’s diagnosis has changed her holiday plans. The ski star previously revealed that “the only time I was flying is with my dogs” and Lucy has long been a world traveler with Vonn.
Three months ago, in Copper Mountain, Colorado, Lucy rushed into her comfortable bed inside the hot lodge while waiting for her owner to return from training.
Vonn brought Leo with her to Sun Valley. She announced on Instagram in November that Leo had received a cancer diagnosis. But two months later, Vonn revealed that Leo “graduated from chemo treatment”.
Vonn closed his return season on Sunday at the age of 40 with a second performance in the super-G. She has become the oldest alpine ski runner to win a podium from the World Cup of almost six years.
It was her first podium of the World Cup since March 15, 2018. A year later, she won bronze downhill at the world championships before calling her a career largely because of her bad knee. Vonn received a partial replacement for the knee almost a year ago, which returned to the competitive ski race a possibility.
Vonn was overcome by emotions in the arrival area on Sunday after a vintage – fast and busy trip – through the Sun Valley route obtained a second place.

The tears that followed, said Vonn, were a mixture of joy, relief, pride and appreciation that it could come back so far.
“I just knew that sometimes, when you know that the only option is to play, it makes me the best,” said Vonn, who published a sincere message on Instagram dedicated his late mother. “I used all the latest ounces of energy I had, and I tried to assemble everything. It is sort of felt, honestly, like the Olympic Games.
More specifically, her descent from the descent to the 2010 Vancouver Games when she captured gold. To date, she cannot look at him without tears.
“This one will be the same,” said Vonn about the Sunday electric race. “Even just thinking about it, I become emotional.”
Vonn has finished his season without real ailments and pain, especially not in his right knee which now contains titanium. His back, however, is a bit painful, “but it’s normal,” said Vonn.
She always tries to take everything – that she has indeed returned to the podium this season.

“It’s great,” said Vonn. “I always knew that I could do it … I think a lot of people saw on Sunday what it meant for me. That I like sport and I appreciate the fact that there are so many people who have supported me throughout this trip.
Vonn plans to return to Europe at some point for more equipment tests with the 2026 Olympic Jean-Cortina at the corner of the street. She did not have a lot of preparation period before announcing in November that she returned to the American skiing team.
“Now I can train and do (test) in the right way and the way it is supposed to be done,” said Vonn. “One of the main reasons why I like skiing is that you have to play when the stakes are the highest. I am proud of myself that I was able to do it.
“This set of skills that I have not disappeared, and it gives me a lot of confidence for next year.
