The legend of Australian surfing Mick Fanning revealed his own adaptation mechanisms with regard to the death of his three older brothers.
Fanning – who won world titles in 2007, 2009 and 2013 – first lost his brother Sean at only 20 years after a car accident in Coolangatta in 1998.
Then, Peter Fanning, who was found dead in his apartment Tweed Heads at the end of 2015, with an extended heart resulting from an in progress medical condition.
He followed Fanning sadly surviving an attack of sharks in South Africa of the months earlier during the competition in the Open J-Bay final.
Then in March of last year, Ed Fanning died in Madagascar, where he worked as a surf guide.
He suffered cardiac complications and died in hospital.

Speaking on the imperfect podcast, the 43 -year -old said that celebrating their lives was essential.
“I’m still trying to talk about good times, laughter,” Fanning told Hugh Van Cuylenburg host.
“We had hilarious memories, a funny life together.
“I don’t want to know their death ….. I think back to many moments that I cherish.
Fanning, born in Penrith, also underlined the sadness he feels for his parents Elizabeth and John, who had to bury three of their sons.
When Ed died in 2024, Fanning admitted to having endured a few dark days.
“Life strikes you with a hammer from time to time,” he said at the time.
“It takes time to treat. It takes time to heal. It is definitely a trip.

Now father of two children and in a stable relationship with his partner Breeana Randall, surf Great recognizes that his family keeps him on the right track.
Fanning also knows that he deceived death after meeting with a large white shark in Jeffreys Bay almost a decade.
He was asked about the incident – where he frantically struck the shark while the survival mode launched – practically every day.
The epic celebration that followed the open J -Bay final – mainly celebrating the fact that Fanning was alive – felt more like a wake.
“It was so raw. Not only for me, but all those who were there on the beach that day, ”recalls Fanning.
“Surfing is a giant family, so that’s what it was. We have almost lost one of the family.
“I felt like I was in my own wake because a minute everyone laughed and the next minute, everyone was crying. “It was very special, but also such a strange moment.”
