Warning: Major Spoilers to come for “The Last of Us” season two.
Season two of “The Last of Us” has just killed one of his key characters in a heartbreaking way, but that’s exactly what the show needed.
As soon as the second season has been announced, matches fans were concerned about how the HBO series would adapt the most controversial moment of the franchise
Fortunately, the show attacks it in a faithful way during the second episode.
For anyone who managed to avoid the spoilers of a five -year -old match and did not expect at that time: Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) torture and kills Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal) to take revenge on his father and the many others at Firefly hospital whom Joel killed at the end of the first season.
The scene is above all exact for the game, including the fact that Ellie (Bella Ramsey) is forced to watch Joel Die – shouting on her to get up while she is retained by the Abby team.
But here is how Joel’s death is different in the series compared to “The Last of Us Part II”.
Joel’s death is brutal, but it was to be.

The heartbreaking scene of the series sees Abby explain that she wants to make him pay for what he did and shoot him in his leg.
As in the game, Joel tells her to continue, then she begins to beat her leg with a golf club.
As Ellie found the lodge, Joel was so beaten that Abby broke the golf club in two. While Ellie is retained on the ground, Abby stabs Joel in the neck with the broken end of the club.
It is a horrible moment to assist because there is no doubt that she killed him. Writers cannot wave a magic wand and cancel his death to capitalize on the popularity of Pedro Pascal.

But the original sequence of the game is a little different.
To start, Joel’s brother Tommy is with him when they meet Abby, not Dina, and Tommy is brutally knocked out by Nora (played by Tati Gabrielle in the show).
Abby Torture Joel in a similar way by beating it with a golf club, except that it does not rush in half. When Ellie ends up bursting into the room, Abby does not stab Joel in the neck; She strikes him once in the head with the club, killing him.
If the spectacle represented its death in the same way, it is possible that certain audiences could think / hope that Joel was still alive.
It is clear that the writers did not want it to be a possibility, to ensure that the emphasis is put on sorrow and the horror of Ellie to the loss of his Father Figure.
And like the game, it will put her in search of taking revenge on Abby.
