The Kings of Los Angeles apologized for having sold scarves made in Türkiye during the Armenian Night of Heritage last month.
“We, the Kings of Los Angeles and our partners in Rank & Rally sincerely want to apologize to all our friends from the Armenian community and beyond for surveillance that may have inadvertently impacting on your experience during what should have been a happy celebration,” said the Kings in a statement published on Saturday. “We approach, store and sell goods from a selected list of manufacturers who are officially authorized by the League, and we did not know the origin of the production of the article.”
The Los Angeles region houses the largest Armenian community outside Armenia. Neighboring Armenia and Turkey are historical enemies resulting from the death of around 1.5 million Armenians in massacres, deportations and forced marches which began in 1915 in Ottoman Türkiye. Historians largely consider the event as a genocide. Turkey vehemently rejects the label.
The Kings offer reimbursements or comprehensive exchanges in person or by mail for anyone bought the scarf from the Team La.
The Armenian heritage night ended on February 22 and is an annual event.
