Los Angeles – Angel City defender Savy King was extended out of the field and took to the hospital after what the team called a “medical event” during the team match against the Royals of Utah in the National Women’s Soccer League on Friday evening.
Other players were visibly shaken while the coaches rushed alongside King after it fell in the 74th minute. It was taken into account for about 10 minutes before it was removed from the field on a cart.
Angel City published a statement that King “was transported by EMS to the hospital following a medical event in the field. It is reactive and undergoes a more in -depth assessment. We thank everyone for their concern and their support”.
After the match, the two teams met in a circle in the midfielder in prayer for King.
King, 20, was the second choice of NWSL 2024 draft by expansion Bay FC and played 18 games for the club. She was exchanged in Angel City in February and started in the eight games against the team this season.
