A federal judge rejected the case of criminal corruption against the mayor of New York on Wednesday, Eric Adams, almost two months after the Trump administration asked controversial to abandon the case.
The case was rejected “with prejudice”, which means that the Ministry of Justice is permanent to resuscitate the accusation act of five charges against Adams on the basis of the same evidence used in the case in the American district court of Manhattan.
The DoJ initially asked the Dale Ho district court to launch the case “without prejudice”, after seven federal prosecutors left to protest against the ministry’s request to submit this request.
A dismissal without prejudice would have allowed the Doj to refresh the accusations against the Democrat in the future if the department chooses to do so.
HO, in his order on Wednesday, denied the request of the DoJ, the drafting of the fact that rejecting the case without prejudice “would create the inevitable perception that the freedom of the mayor depends on his ability to carry out the priorities for applying the immigration of the administration.
The judge also declared that this would create the perception that ADAMS, which requires a re -election this year, “could be more indebted to the requests of the federal government than to the wishes of his own voters”.
“This appearance is inevitable and it advises in favor of dismissal with prejudices,” HO. wrote.
The judge noted that Adams had asked for a dismissal with prejudice and that the MJ had opposed this request, “effectively renouncing any objection to the permanent rejection of this case”.
Adams, who is a former New York police officer, was charged in September to accuse him of a decade campaign contribution program, corruption and other allegations.
The accusation act accused Adams of accepting illegal donations in its mayor campaign in 2021 and accepting free luxury trips in 2016, when he was president of the Brooklyn district.
The prosecutors said that a senior official of the diplomatic establishment in Turkey had facilitated campaign donations in Adams and also organized its and companies to receive free or reduced trips to the national airline from Turkey to destinations, including France, China, Sri Lanka, India, Hungary and Turkey.
Adams in exchange, then put pressure on the New York fire service to facilitate the opening of the new building of the Turkey consulate without time inspection for a visit to the Turkish president, according to the indictment.
