PITTSBURGH – Aaron judge marked his 1,000th match by hitting his sixth season’s sixth circuit and New York Yankees beat Pittsburgh 9-4 Friday during the home opening of the Pirates.
The judge shot the seats in the center right during the seventh off Tim Mayza – who sold the 61st Home Run of the judge during his record season of 2022 – increased his total career to 321, the most by a player in his first 1000 games. These 321 circuits also equaled the number affected by Babe Ruth in its first 1,000 games with the Yankees.
The judge of Judge represents the 12th moment of a player hitting six circuits in the first seven games of a season of his team, and he was the first since Trevor Story did in 2016 with seven, according to Espn Research. History was tied with Mike Schmidt in 1976 for most Home Runs through seven games of all time.
The Homer is the 69th of the interleague judge since 2016, 12 more than the closest players (Kyle Schwarber and Pete Alonso), according to ESPN Research.
After his second MVP prize in the American League, the judge has 17 points produced in seven games.
Oswaldo Cabrera went 3-in-4 with four produced points for New York. Anthony Volpe added three strokes when the Yankees gave Max Fried (1-0) more than enough support for the race so that the left-hander can win his first Yankees victory in thin stripes. Fried gave a point and six strokes with a walk and six stick withdraws in 5⅔ sleeves.
The New York record has been 139-38 since 2020 when the judge goes deep.
