A New Mexico judge blocked the public release of certain videos and photos captured by the police while responding to the death of actor Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa last month in Santa Fe.
The Hackman family domain had filed a lawsuit aimed at preventing state officials from publishing the images.
Earlier this month, images from the outside of the late award-winning actor was published, which included interviews with witnesses.
During his decision on Monday, judge Matthew Wilson said that the release of any image of the body of the deceased couple was to be vague before the disclosure of the state authorities.
Hackman Family Estate lawyer, Kurt Sommer, argued in an audience on Monday that the release of the video of the sheriff department and photos of the residence would violate the intimacy of the deceased couple.
Hackman, 95, and Arakawa, 65, died in February from natural causes, according to the office of the medical investigator of New Mexico.
Sommer said that the couple “took great difficulty in staying outside of public light” in recent years, and that the public release of sensitive images would be contrary to their wishes.
“There is simply no objective of the legitimate government to publish this equipment at the moment,” he said.
The media, including CBS News and the Associated Press, had asked the court to authorize the release of articles in accordance with the laws on the transparency of public documents of the New Mexico.
While the Hackman family estate also sought to block the public publication of an autopsy report, Judge Matthews said that he would not limit the publication of this information, other than all the photographs of the exam.
Arakawa, who was a former classic pianist, and Hackman had been married since 1991.
