Six additional influenza deaths were reported in Arkansas last week by the Arkansas Ministry of Health.
The weekly report of viral respiratory diseases from the ministry notes that it only receives reports on a fraction of COVVI-19 cases and flu, because it only requires reports of hospitalizations, deaths and flambés of influenza .
It is alleged that there are many more people really affected than the report shows it.
Report key points for week 4
The Arkansas has reported “high” or 10 out of 13 for the influenza -form activity indicator (ILI) determined by the data reported to Ilinet.
Visits to the hospital emergency department reported by syndromic surveillance was 9.81% for the illuminity of the flu (Ili), 3.31% for the Covid-Like type (CLI) and 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 00% for the syncytial respiratory virus (RSV).
The ambulatory visits to Ili reported by Ilinet of sentries suppliers were 5.22%.
Arkansas children’s hospitals and the locations of the clinics associated in the center and northwest of Arkansas report RSV and Flow A, H3 test positivity at around 14%; FLUE A, H1 2009 is currently 13%.
The average rate of school absenteeism last week was 9.64% among public schools.
The Arkansas reported 21 deaths related to flu this season, 81% of them have not been vaccinated.
At the national level, the CDC estimates that there have been at least 12 million diseases, 160,000 hospitalizations and 6,600 deaths of the flu so far this season.
The Arkansas reported five deaths linked to COVID-19 this week and a total of 512 deaths in 2024 and 15 since 01/01/2025. Weekly deaths reflect the week reported or treated, not the date of death.
This influenza season, 16 influenza epidemics have been reported in nursing homes or other dissected institutions.
Nationally, the proportion of deaths reported to the National Center for Health Statistics which was awarded to pneumonia, flu and COVID-19 (PIC) was above the epidemic threshold this week.
