The Infinity Ward host casually shares the coolest gun Call of Duty has ever made: the Whizzbanger, a meme of a gun that fires 50 cal rounds. with a hammer
Ranon Sarono, lead animator at Infinity Ward with credits on Modern Warfare 1, 2, and 3, has revealed an early version of an absurd weapon that Call of Duty players could only dream of using.
Meet the Whizzbanger, a weapon aptly nicknamed “monstrosity” that fires .50-caliber rounds every time its user strikes the back of the shell with a sledgehammer. Based on the infamous meme originally shared on the now-defunct Pimp my Gun website, it’s a Frankenstein’s monster of sorts that combines the Lillya sledgehammer with a large bullet from Escape from Tarkov. It’s a single-shot platform with a lot of recoil and almost no practicality or feasibility, but damn if it isn’t cool as hell.
“Note that I have received comments about this from inside and outside of YouTube: I am fully aware that this does not work in real life,” Sarono said. “I’m sure this old meme (shown at the beginning) was created purely for its absurdity and deliberate disregard for real-world physics. So when animating, I also didn’t care much about real-world physics due to its absurdity. Suspend your disbelief for the sake of a little meme. »
Sarono said that his role at Infinity Ward was specifically focused on “animating weapons in Modern Warfare to make them satisfying and powerful to use in the game,” and I have to say that his unique expertise really shines through in this concept of gloriously impractical weapon. I’m not even a big fan of FPS, but I can say from a tactile point of view that it would be really nice to shoot.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is the largest CoD game ever released with over 300 GB of space required on Xbox Series X/S.
