One of the biggest climbing of the old conflict of the decades between India with nuclear arms and Pakistan is currently taking place. An expert in the matter says that the world does not seem to take it seriously.

India struck several targets in Pakistan early Wednesday on Wednesday, which, according to its soldiers, were “terrorist infrastructure”. The Indian government said the strikes were in response to an attack by armed men who had killed at least 26 tourists in cashmere administered by India.

The Pakistani government has described the strikes of India “an act of war”. He said that strikes and subsequent bombings have killed more than 30 people. The two countries have entered multiple military conflicts since 1947, when British Follette India was divided.

Local residents and media members examine a building damaged by an alleged Indian missile attack near Muzaffarabad, the capital of cashmere controlled by Pakistan on Wednesday.

President Trump told journalists at the oval office this week that strikes were “damage” and that he hoped that the fighting would end “quickly”. He added that the two had fought for decades and “centuries”. Pakistan was founded in 1947.

Praveen including the main analyst of the International Crisis Group, said Morning edition This American intervention is necessary in the conflict, but that the declaration of the president gives the impression that it is a “benign war that takes place and (that they) stop at some point”.

He said that the point of view of the international community “has a huge risk” because India and Pakistan “are nuclear powers and everything you need is a calculation error or an error”.

Whose HE spoke to Steve Inskeep of NPR on how this last climbing compared to past fights and what could happen.

This interview was slightly modified for length and clarity.

Strengths of the interview

Steve Inskeep: Diaa Hadid de NPR reports that India hit earlier in the week. We had the impression it would be. National security advisers speak, trying to resolve it. But suddenly, more strikes today. What do you do with that?

Praveen Qualii: Well, it predicts a serious escalation that will occur in the coming days and weeks perhaps. The very first climbing cycle between India and Pakistan started on a much larger scale than in the last crisis in 2019, so it is a concern. And it was probably in 1971 when the two nations went to a full -fledged war that we saw this type of exchange.

Inskeep: India says it is striking aerial defenses in Pakistan. Suppose it is true for the purposes of this question. When you hit the aerial defenses, it is often to open the way to hit something else, to erase the airspace. Do we expect India to hit again?

Quali: Well, they say it is an operation in progress. They have already claimed to have struck nine sites, which they call a “terrorist infrastructure”. So more strikes could be on the way. And Pakistan is required to retaliate and retaliate strongly because they undergo immense public pressure, because this time, there have been civilian victims, unlike the last time.

Inskeep: I want to sort what you think that the objective of India is. India says that it responds to this April terrorist attack and that officials think that it was launched from Pakistani soil. It is the justification of these strikes. But as they continue, day after day, you have to ask yourself, what is the end state? What are they trying to win here?

Quali: (India) has been in cashmere since 2019, which is, you know, a heavy security approach (which) did not work, which led to this horrible attack on April 22. India has not really provided tangible evidence so far, so it has undergone immense public pressure to show something, do something. And India has used these strikes, which seems to have appeased the Indian public.

Note: Donnhi refers to the index Revoked the special status of cashmere in 2019and intensified a repression against residents in the Muslim majority state.

Inskeep: I am interested in listening to you because you told me that India may have struck in part because of public pressure to do something. And now Pakistan is under pressure to resume a dramatic way due to public pressure to do something.

Quali: That’s right. There have been Tit-For-Tat diplomatic movements followed by military strikes. And whenever there seems to be a request for a more energetic strike, we do not know what will happen next. But this time, it looks very serious. But the world does not seem to take it seriously. President Trump explained how this conflict has been taking place for many decades. In fact, he said “centuries”, which could give the impression that it is a benign war that takes place and they stop at some point. But that has a great risk, a huge risk, because the two are nuclear powers and everything you need is a calculation error or an error. Thus, these two powers therefore do not completely control the climbing dynamics, which the world seems to believe.

Soldiers of the Indian Borders Safety Force (BSF) are custody of the border post of India-Pakistan Wagah on the outskirts of Amritsar on April 24. At least 26 people were killed on April 22 in the cashmere administered by the Indians when armed men opened fire on tourists during the deadliest attack in the region against civilians since 2000.

Inskeep: What leverage, if necessary, have the United States, if he chose to use it, to try to calm?

Quali: It is only the United States that can really end these hostilities, which it has succeeded in 2019. Because power really works. You know, there have been other friendly nations of the Middle East who tried to mediate, but that will not really work unless the United States intervenes with all the sincerity.

Inskeep: Because the United States is trying to be close to India and have historical links with Pakistan? This is why it must be the United States?

Quali: Yeah, exactly. President Trump said he was close to two powers, what we know is true, although India and the United States are getting closer in the past 10 years. But there are also historical links with Pakistan. And finally, the United States is the superpower that can bring both parties to the table.
