“ The Housemaid ” frightening Cinemacon with Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried

“The Housemaid”, the adaptation by Paul Feig of the best -selling novel by Freida McFadden, made his debut a first overview of Cinemacon. The film features Sydney Sweeney in the role of Millie, a maid for an apparently perfect family. Amanda Seyfried plays her employer Nina, an emotionally erratic woman, and Brandon Sklenar like her charming husband. Things with this rich couple are not what they seem – a revelation complicated by the fact that Millie has her own secrets that she would prefer to stay hidden.

Sweeney first picked up “The Housemaid” when he exceeded the best-sellers’ charts and could not deposit it.

“I love it when there are so many unexpected twists and turns.” Said Sweeney on the Cinemacon scene during the presentation of Lionsgate. She appreciated that the characters were “messy” and “damn”.

Seyfried echoed the enthusiasm of his co-star for shocks and surprises in reserve for the public. “I have to go to places where I did not expect to go,” said Seyfried. “We have reached places that I have never been able to do as an actor … We created a wacky shit … What happened when the cameras were rolling were bananas.”

Based on the images shared with theater owners, things go very crazy, very quickly. There are plans of a blood -bathed sweeney that brandished an oversized and biting kitchen knife later in a sandwich with homicidal joy, as well as a lot of Sklenar and Seyfried fade on their opulent house. The couple alternates between passionate embraces and domestic tension (an ambulance appears in their alley, at one point, its swirling and blue light making that something sinister has just happened). All of this is on a haunting song from Nico.

“The Housemaid” is in a way a departure for Feig, which has become a reliable Hitmaker with comedies like “Bridemaids” and “The Heat”, although he supervised the Smart thrillers “a simple favor” and his suite to come, “another simple favor”.

“I love thrillers,” said Feig. “Ironically, I don’t look at a lot of comedy.”

He said that both genres have similarities because they rely on construction up to a time when tension is released.

Sweeney, which broke out with “Euphoria” and “The White Lotus”, has become a major film star, appearing in successes like “anyone but you”. Seyfried is an Oscars nominated for “Mank” and an Emmy winner for her strange turn as the founder of Theranos Elizabeth Holmes in “The Dropout”. His credits include “Mamma Mia!” and “Les Misérables”. And Sklenar plays on “1923” opposite Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, and acts alongside Meghann Fahy in “Drop” of this spring.

McFadden continued to write a number of novels “Housemaid” after the first was such popular success. Lionsgate made its debut on the trailer during its presentation to the theater owners of Cinemacon, an event in the exhibition industry which takes place this week in Las Vegas. “The Housemaid” will open the rooms on December 25, 2025.

“Let me say that you are very successful,” promised Feig owners of Cinemacon.

It’s music to their ears.
