The heartbreaking reason William and Kate want to reconcile with Harry and Meghan: source
Prince William and Princess Kate have been separated from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for almost four years – but the future king and queen “are open” to a reconciliation, according to a source.
The anonymous insider told Us Weekly that William and Kate were motivated to make amends for the sake of their three children.
“They want a relationship with Meghan and Harry, and they don’t want the acrimony to be passed down to the next generation,” the source said.
The insider added that Meghan and Harry feel the same way, saying: “Obviously the Duke and Duchess want their children to have a relationship with their cousins.”
William and Kate are the parents of Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louise, 5, while Harry and Meghan are the parents of Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2 years.
Prince Harry is expected to return to the UK next week for a ceremony celebrating 10 years of the first Invictus Games, sparking speculation he may meet William and Kate, who are currently being treated for cancer.
However, a separate source told the Mirror that there was unlikely to be a face-to-face reunion.
“Their relationship remains extremely fractured. Harry has privately expressed a desire to sit down with his brother, but now is not the time,” he said.
Harry is reportedly set to check into a hotel room on his next trip to the UK after the royal family failed to offer any of their many residences.
This won’t be the first time Harry has stayed in a hotel while traveling to London, which he chose to do during a trip to the U.K. in February following King Charles’ cancer diagnosis.
It is not yet known whether Harry will see Charles during his brief stay in the UK next week.
A friend told The Daily Beast that Charles was eager to rebuild a relationship with Harry — which William understands.
“Cancer puts things in perspective,” the friend said. “William respects his father’s wishes to reconcile with his son, but he is now focused on protecting his family from stressful situations.”
