US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Monday that he was not concerned about “currently” of American stores potentially short of articles due to US President Donald Trump Prices.
Trump introduced a reference rate of 10% against most nations, and a much higher levy totaling 145% on goods from China.
The White House has also introduced several sectoral prices of 25% and has threatened to rehave higher measures to dozens of trade partners if they do not reach an agreement to reduce trade barriers with the United States.
Requested during an interview with Fox and friends If he was concerned about empty shelves relationships due to prices, Bessent replied: “Not currently”.
“We have excellent retailers,” he said in the Fox News interview. “I guess they pre -ordered.”
“I think we will see elasticities. I think we will see replacements, then we will see how fast the Chinese want to defuse. ”
