I’ve been making arguments for gold for a long time, but I got nervous today watching CNBC and seeing Jim Cramer frothing about gold. There has long been talk of holding 10% of your portfolio in gold, and this potion (based on almost all timelines) has now beaten the S&P 500.
The gold thesis is increasingly crystallized by the simple question: which is safer, the dollar or American gold?
Huge deficits, political dysfunction and geopolitical antagonization make this question worth answering.
Ken Griffin really addressed this point last week and yesterday Ray Dalio echoed it.
If you were to look just from a strategic asset allocation mix perspective, you would probably have as your optimal mix something like 15% of your portfolio in gold,” he told the Greenwich Economic Forum.
