The Golden Globes welcome Nikki Glaser, celebrities who can do everything except ‘tell people who to vote for’

Golden Globes host Nikki Glaser opened the evening by mocking celebrities for their past presidential endorsements that seemed to have no effect.

When the awards show began Sunday night, Glaser began by complimenting the room of celebrities, then quickly roasted them.

“I’m not here to roast you tonight. I want you to know that. How could I really? You’re all so famous, so talented, so powerful. I mean, you really can do anything.. .I mean, except telling the country who to vote for,” Glaser said.

As the crowd laughed, she added, “But it doesn’t matter! You’ll get them next time! If there is one. I’m scared.”

REP. DEM. HARRIS TORCHES CAMPAIGN TO DRAW ON CELEBRITY SUPPORT: “NOBODY CARES”

Several major Hollywood celebrities, including Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Alec Baldwin, Leonardo DiCaprio and Golden Globe nominee Harrison Ford, have expressed their support for Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of the presidential election.

Despite their support, Harris lost to President-elect Donald Trump, losing all seven swing states as well as the popular vote. Harris also failed to flip any counties that voted for Trump in 2020.

After being announced as a host in August, Glaser wrote a statement expressing her excitement about poking fun at celebrity audiences, citing controversial former host Ricky Gervais as her inspiration.

“I am absolutely thrilled to host the Golden Globes,” Glaser wrote in a statement reported by The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s one of my favorite nights of television and now I’m ringside (actually, I think I have to host from the stage). The Golden Globes aren’t just a big night for television and film , but also for comedy It’s one of the rare times where show business not only allows, but encourages, to be lovingly mocked (at least I hope so). , I hope so.) It’s a concert exciting, yet challenging, because it’s live, unpredictable and in front of Hollywood’s biggest stars (who might also get drunk while sitting next to their recent exes).”

“Some of my all-time favorite jokes come from the opening monologues of the Golden Globes, when Tina (Fey), Amy (Poehler) or Ricky (Gervais) said exactly what we all didn’t know we desperately needed to hear,” she said. added. “I just hope to continue this centuries-old tradition (which might also get me canceled). It’s truly a dream job. Plus, I no longer have to feel guilty for every TV show and movie I I looked back in the past year, it was worth it (Below Deck: Sailing Yacht Season Four will be nominated, right?).”
