Ukraine European allies demonstrate support while discussions on Trump brokers show little sign of progress.
The German Minister of Foreign Affairs said that the efforts of US President Donald Trump to ensure a truce in the Russian war on Ukraine is in a dead end, but his Chinese counterpart says that he encourages that the peace talks between Washington and Moscow continue.
Arriving in Kyiv for an unexpected visit, German Minister for Foreign Affairs Annalena Baerbock said that “due to the deadlock” between the United States and Russia on a cease-fire contract, the continuous support of European allies for Ukraine during the war is “absolutely crucial”.
However, at the same time, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, during a visit to Moscow, said on Tuesday that “certain results were obtained” in Washington’s attempt to stop the Kremlin’s large -scale invasion, now in its fourth year.
In an interview with the Russian news agency Ria Novosti, he said that Beijing supports the objective of “an equitable and long -term peace agreement to all the parties involved”.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Wang should meet Putin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, but no other details have been given.
No end in sight
Trump has scolded his Russian and Ukrainian counterparts on Sunday, Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, expressing his frustration in the face of continuous fights in a war he had committed to stop in 24 hours.
Trump insisted that progress was made in the negotiations that his administration led, but also said that he was planning to impose other sanctions in Moscow during his last attacks. He also accused Zelenskyy of trying to retreat from an agreement with the United States on access to mineral resources in Ukraine.
Putin actually rejected Trump’s proposal for an immediate 30 -day break in the war. A partial ceasefire in the Black Sea which could allow safer civil navigation was scuttled by the conditions imposed by the Kremlin negotiators.
According to the Institute for the Study of War, a Washington-based reflection group, Russia has an agreement in the Black Sea in order to “win the efforts to a general cease-fire and extract additional western concessions”.
Putin insisted that Moscow wishes a complete agreement ensuring a sustainable settlement, but kyiv firmly rejects his requests for territorial concessions and limitations on Ukrainian foreign relations.
Ukraine also alleged that Putin had intentionally made maximalist requests in talks as a means of blocking any real agreement.
Meanwhile, the Russian forces continued to try to move forward in eastern Ukraine, the analysts indicating that Moscow was preparing a large -scale spring campaign along the front line of around 1,000 kilometers.
According to the authorities, last night was the first in addition to five months that Russia drew any Shahed drones from Ukrainian targets. But Andrii Kovalenko, the head of the Ukraine Security Council counter-information branch, warned that there was no sign of change in the Russian strategy.
“For the moment, that does not mean anything,” he said on Telegram.
