“I assure you that I have never been informed of incidents of violence, not to mention sexual violence,” said Bayrou. “A defamation combination will obviously be deposited.”
Representatives of the French Prime Minister and Mediatart did not immediately respond to the request for politico comments.
Bayrou, a former Minister of Education, had previously declared that he had heard “rumors” of “slaps” but no sexual violence at school, the Parisian daily Le Parisien reported last year.
In 1998, the former director of the school, a priest, was put under an official investigation into an investigation into the alleged rape of a student. A second complaint was then filed. The story of Mediatart quoted the lawyer for the first applicant and a journalist who worked on the case who both declared that Bayrou had been aware of allegations.
Mediapart underlined the relationships of the world and the local newspaper La République des Pyrénées, who both reported the judge of this case, Christian Mirande, said that he had met Bayrou early during surveys. Dozens of former students have since brought accusations concerning incidents of sexual assault that would have taken place in school.
The play also said that Bayrou’s wife attended the accused’s funeral ceremony, who committed suicide a few weeks after the investigation.
