The former brother Real housewives County Orange Star Lydia McLaughlin was fatally killed by police in California.
Geoffrey Shyam Stirling was shot by the police during a routine traffic stop on the Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Beach, according to TMZ.
Stirling, 45, would have led his motorcycle when the police arrested him on April 17.
Sources said that he was “uncooperative” and that at least a Newport Beach officer shot him. No officials of the law enforcement was injured.
California’s prosecutor’s office has since launched an investigation into the incident.
In a press release confirming the death at TmzMcLaughlin, 44, said: “My family and I are devastated by the loss of my brother. We are grateful to the outpouring of love and support of his friends, family and community. We ask for privacy while we cry.”
Mclaughlin Tmz The declaration was followed by a cryptic position on Instagram. The alum of the star of reality took his channel to share an image with the message: “He heals the broken heart and links their wounds.”
Besides the post, she wrote: “Due to the pain of Good Friday, we have the joy of Easter Easter. #Jesusislord.”
Also on Instagram, the Newport Beach police service has revealed more details on the incident.
“On April 17, 2025, around 9:15 p.m., an officer of the Newport Beach police department made a traffic stop on a motorcycle on the west coast motorway between Superior avenue and Hoag hospital,” said post. “The rider, identified as Geoffrey Shyam Stirling, a 45 -year -old resident of Laguna Niguell, was arrested for traffic offense.
“Shortly after being arrested, Stirling became uncomfortable and assaulted the officer. During the violent altercation that followed, Stirling managed to withdraw the taser issued by the officer’s department of service belt and tried to deploy him several times against the officer. At this stage, a shooting involved of the officer occurred.
“Additional agents responded to the scene and returned medical aid to Stirling until the arrival of the Newport Beach firefighters. Stirling was transported to a local hospital, where he was then declared died,” continued the post.
The independent contacted McLaughlin representatives for comments.
McLaughlin only appeared in Real Housewives of Orange County For seasons eight and 12. She also played in Wedding OC of Tamra,, What’s nine County OrangeAnd Meetings with remarkable people.
The star on screen has been married to her husband Doug McLaughlin since 2006.
