Washington (AP) – A former FBI agent and Pentagon entrepreneur continued the founder of a conservative non -profit organization known for his hidden camera stings on secretly recorded videos showing that the entrepreneur criticizing President Donald Trump to a woman he thought he was making an appointment.

Jamie Mannina said in her trial that he was mistakenly induced by a woman whom he met on a dating website held as a politically liberal infirmer, but who actually worked with the conservative activist James O’Keefe in a bite operation designed to induce mannina to make remarks “inflammatory and damaging” which could be recorded, “manipulated” line.

Clips of their January conversations were spranged together to reveal that the Mannina “essentially tried to launch an illegal coup against President Trump”, and an article published online with defamed Videos Mannina by painting him in the context of a “deep state” effort with senior military officials to undermine Trump’s presidency, according to the trial filed in Washington.

The Mannina does not deny the trial to make the comments. He says that his words have been released from their context and were distorted in a description of the video that was published on YouTube.

O’Keefe founded Project Veritas in 2010, but was withdrawn from the organization in 2023 in the midst of allegations according to which he had mistreated workers and promotion funds. He continued to use similar hidden cameras stings as part of a new organization he created, O’Keefe Media Group, which is also appointed in the trial.

O’Keefe told the Associated Press that the Mannina had “voluntarily” proposed the comments in the recording and that it was important for the public to hear the remarks of the Mannina. O’Keefe stressed that the District of Columbia requires only the consent of a party, not both, for a conversation to be recorded. O’Keefe said the trial was a “attack on the first amendment” and that it was ready to fight it before a court of appeal if necessary.

“He said what he said. We did not get him out of their context. The words we reported came out of his mouth,” said O’Keefe, adding: “We want to our reports.”

The trial includes allegations of defamation, light false, false fraudulent declarations and violations of the Wire tap law. Although the trial acknowledges that the City’s consent law to register conversations, the file affirms that the law nevertheless prohibits “the interception and the registration of a communication if it was in order to commit a tort act”.

A recording that O’Keefe published shows that the Mannina was questioned at some point by the woman, whose name was not disclosed in the trial, on her “global evaluation of Trump”.

“It is a sociopathic narcissist who is only interested in advancing his name, wealth and fame”, can be heard Mannina. Asked in the recording if there was something he could do to “protect the American people”, Mannina replied that he was in conversation with retired generals to explore what could be done.

The trial was brought by Mark Zaid, an eminent Washington lawyer who regularly represents civil servants and whistles. Zaid himself was prosecuted Trump last week after the president revoked his security authorization.

“Lying or misleading someone on a meeting application, which occurs without a doubt all the time, is not what this trial is looking to approach,” Zaid said in a statement to the Associated Press. “The creation of a false profile for specific purposes to target individuals for deliberately harmful and harmful purposes is what crosses the line.”

The complaint stems from a pair of dates that Mannina had in January. During their first appointment, according to the trial, the woman expressed her disgust for Trump and has repeatedly pressed Mannina on her political opinions and her work with the government. Mannina told him who included work as a “spy receiver” several years earlier when he was a counterintelligence agent for FBI.

The trial indicates that the Mannina and the woman met for lunch the next day, and leaving the restaurant, a man with a microphone approached the Mannina and said: “Jamie, you are a spy hunter, you say. Well, I am a spy hunter too, but I am obviously a better spy hunter than you. ” The man was O’Keefe, said the trial.

The complaint indicates that Mannina was quickly dismissed from Booz Allen, where he worked as an entrepreneur, after O’Keefe contacted the press office and presented at least game parts.

O’Keefe then published a video on the YouTube channel of his organization entitled “The Pentagon advisor reveals a conversation” to explore what we can do “to” protect Trump’s people “.

The trial indicates that the O’Keefe media group painted the Mannina in a false day determining its words and its title, including by referring to it as a “high adviser to the Pentagon” when it was in fact only “one of the countless number of defense entrepreneurs”. He indicates that the characterization was to support “the affirmations manufactured according to which Mr. Mannina was essentially attempted to launch an illegal coup against President Trump”.

The trial does not say directly why the Mannina was targeted, but it notes that in 2017, when he worked at the office of the Director of National Intelligence, he published three articles in the Huffington Post and the Journal Hill which criticized Trump.
