The former director of Ipswich and Scotland, George Burley, revealed that he had received cancer.
The 68 -year -old announced that he had cancer in September but did not specify what form of the disease.
Burley, who also managed Crystal Palace, Derby and Southampton, said he had suffered six cycles of chemotherapy and now feels “very lucky”.
He said, “It was a difficult period, but I feel much brighter now.
“In fact, I can go to Portman Road matches and I like to watch the team play in the Premier League.
“We are grateful to the club (Ipswich) for the support they showed me, I and my family, and I would ask that everyone is respectful of our private life for the moment.”

The former defender made more than 500 comparisons for the Ipswich in a 12 -year -old passage to the club, before managing the Suffolk team from 1994 to 2002.
He told the BBC: “It started almost a year ago when I had symptoms and I didn’t feel well.
“It was great to finally go through all this – I was very, very lucky with the amount of support I had.
“My family was incredible … and I was very well treated.
The former Scottish international also played for Sunderland, Gillingham, Motherwell, Ayr United, Falkirk and Colchester United.
He said he was originally sick for months before receiving his diagnosis of cancer.
“Finally, when I was diagnosed, I thought I had to continue,” added the legend of Ipswich:
“The people around you, you need to make sure you don’t clean (and) keep their mentions.

Burley managed the Suffolk Club from 1994 to 2002 and still regularly attended Portman Road
“It is not easy because at the beginning, you do not want to talk about it a lot, but once you are there, the people around you know that you accept the fact – and (you) continue life as normal as possible.”
The former Scotland boss also thought that his recovery was helped by the fitness levels he built as a player.
Burley managed his country between 2008 and 2009 before spending a season in Selhurst Park.
His latest job saw him move to Cyprus to take charge of the Apollo Limassol FC.
