The former star and manager of Chelsea, Ruud Gullit, offered a scathing assessment of his former team.
Gullit played for the blues between 1995 and 1998, becoming players’ manager in 1996 when Glenn Hoddle left the club to take over at the national team of England.
He took the blues to the glory of the FA Cup in 1997 – their first major trophy for 26 years – but was dismissed the following season with the second league club and in the quarter -final of two cup competitions.
It was under the former owner Ken Bates. Since then, the Blues have passed through the Roman era Abramovic and have started their last property under the current bosses Todd Boehly and Blueco.
But things are not different from 27 years ago, according to Gullit.
Writing in the sun, the Dutchman has questioned the current regime and called the club to finally find an identity in order to go ahead.

“Chelsea for me, is always a bit of an enigma,” he started. “I don’t really know how good they are or how bad they are. They are looking for their identity a little. They are trying to bring the table back and perhaps in the long term, they will be contenders for the title. But I don’t know where they are exactly.
“People tell me that one of the problems with Chelsea is that they change the manager all the time – so tell me something new!”
“I don’t understand. I don’t understand what they really want, really. Even if they succeed, they always give you back as a coach. So I don’t know. This is why I say that Chelsea is always an enigma. I try to discover what they represent, what is their philosophy and what is the football they want us to look at?
The blues fell sixth in the Premier League table with nine games to play in the season, but are lucky to return to fourth row if they beat Tottenham on Thursday evening.
It seemed that they would be able to follow the pace with Liverpool and Arsenal in the race for the title earlier in the season, but they fell and fought for the form in recent times.
The jury is still on Enzo Maresca, who said Chelsea The players received his message loud and clear after the Italian was so alarmed by the bad training standard last week that he canceled their day off.
Before the confrontation of Thursday at home in Tottenham, an internal friendly was organized between the stars of the first team who had not traveled in international service and a team made up under the age of 21 of the Academy.
The young people won 3-0 – with the 19 -year -old striker, Donnll McNeilly, marking twice – and Maresca responded by bringing the first team to Cobham the next morning.
Jadon Sancho was among those who are not called for England, and he has not scored for Chelsea since December 8 – the last time they faced Tottenham, a 4-3 victory outside. Sancho was one of the new signatures warned by phone by Maresca in summer that if he did not work properly during the week, he would not play.
