Former Chelsea goalkeeper Nicolas Tie retired at the age of 24 to join the French army.
TIE represented a number of teams from the Blues Academy for three years after joining the club in 2017 and appearing in the Premier League 2, the UEFA Young League and the Premier League matches under 18.
However, he could not do his breakthrough in the first team, with Kepa Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero before him in the order of packaging at the time.
Born in France, the tie was called to the Côte d’Ivoire team in 2018 but was forced to withdraw due to an injury. He was then selected for the 2020 Olympic Games.
The former shotstopper left Chelsea that year to join the Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes, where he failed to enter the first team for three years.
He has now called time for his career for a new company in the French army.

The former shotstopper says that joining the French army resembles a “destiny”
TIE told Ouest France: “I had good tests and I have the regiment I asked for.
“I’m ready, I train every day for that.
When asked why he called time in his football career, Tie replied: “I lost my taste for football.
“I am athletic, I have not been done with office work. I always liked military careers, so I said to myself: “Why not join the army?”
“My stepfather is a paratrooper in Côte d’Ivoire. I was going to the barracks to observe, it inspired me.
TIE enlisted in the first parachute regiment of the French army on April 1 and says that it is ready for anything.
He said, “I don’t do politics. I undertook to deal with the problem at the source. If OPEX (external operation) in Ukraine is launched, let’s go. It doesn’t scare me.
TIE also recognizes that the introduction by break -in in the first Chelsea team was almost impossible, and seeing his friends from the National French football center in Clairefontaine managed to do it even more difficult.
On his charm with the blues, he added: “There, I have always been treated like the child of the club. I was upgraded in each category, from U13 to the Premier League 2.
“But I saw all my friends from Clairefontaine, Sofiane Diop, Benoît Badiashiles and Lorenz Assignon making their debut of Ligue 1, which made me want to try myself at this level.
“I didn’t want to be this player who was loaned for a few months to the championship clubs.”
